Kinda Fun Weekend-iness!

So for the first time in a while, I had a kinda fun weekend. It may have corresponded with me lucking out into a decent work schedule for it, but it was good times.

Thursday night, me and Britters went to see "The Legend of Zorro," which was kinda fun, even if the movie itself won't be getting any awards. It was still something to do and it was at a theater I hadn't been to before (Chagrin), so that was neat.

And Friday one of my good friends who goes to grad school in New York came to visit. Her brother's wedding was this weekend, so she visited before all the rehearsal stuff. And another friend who is now at Kent for grad school visited too for the occassion, which was AWESOME. It was really fun and felt like old times (read "last year") and it made me kind of sad to see everyone leave again. Nonetheless, it made for a fair Friday.

Saturday was really cool, despite me getting frustrated because I couldn't get anyone to go with me to see Piven perform at Arabica. I'm so glad I still went by myself, because SHE IS AWESOME! Everybody needs to see Marissa next time she plays - I was so shocked (not that I didn't suspect she was uber-talented, but I had never seen her play nor heard her sing before). And she was sick on top of it! Crazy! And I met her cool friend Al and we all went over to her house afterwards (it's deep in the woods off the main roads, so if anyone needs to hide a body, it may be the place to go). I saw her 80s record collection (bursting with Police and Culture Club - can't beat that combo) and we played Pop-Up Video Trivia or something. Good times were had.

And today was pretty darn fun, too. Me, sis, and Britters went and saw Elizabethtown, which secured Cameron Crowe's position as number two on my list of heroes (still taking a back seat to Charlie Kaufman, of course). Someone's gotta speak up for the odd, quirky, riddled-with-fear-of-failure, yet somehow still creative, young adult male. And after the movie we went to Bob Evans - mmmmm. Later, me, sis, Britters, John, Jackie, Snap, and Snap's boyfriend went to NIGHTMARE IN PAINESVILLE (insert spooky noises). It's now called something else, but it was still pretty fun, despite a crazy doctor who touched Jackie's nose (and, you know what, I suspect he's not really a doctor AT ALL, especially with that scary mask). And number of obscure Tony Danza references we managed to make between the seven of us:

NINETY-TWO!

So now I'm sad that I'm back to working insane hours, at least for the next two weekends. This weekend made me nostalgic for the days when I didn't need to have a job during the school year. I miss them. Sigh.

I saw "Elizabethtown" yesterday too! I really, really enjoyed it and it makes me love Cameron Crowe all the more. I don't care what the critics said, I thought it was an excellent movie.

Glad you had a great weekend and you saw that "good friend" of yours. I saw her on Thursday. :)

Woo for "Thunder Road" -- it's my favorite Springsteen song of all time, too! I play the "Born to Run" CD at work all the time and I never tire of it. :) Plus, we should still totally do lunch some time - I haven't seen you in FOREVER.

I know, we definitely need to meet up somewhere so we can hang out and talk and eat and laugh about silly things. It's been MONTHS since we saw each other last (wasn't it sometime in, like, July?!). Let me know when you're good to go!

Hey, thanks for saying that nice stuff about me! I was so happy that you came--you have no idea how exciting it was to have you there. And really, thanks for trying to get people to come. I swear, I usually have more folks at my shows. Boo to Arabica for not giving me publicity!

Anyway, no more complaining. I will instead fantasize about your sexy "Prince-crawling-out-of-the-bath" pose.

And I forgot----"Thunder Road" is my all-time favorite Bruce Springsteen song.
